Terms of Service

1. Agreement to terms

By accessing or using Scruto ("the Service"), including the website at scruto.app and the Scruto desktop application, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Scruto is operated by Andrii Cherniakhov, a sole proprietor based in Poland.

2. Description of service

Scruto is a desktop application that automatically tags, transcribes, renames, and organizes video clips and photos. Speech transcription runs locally on your device. For AI-powered analysis (tagging, descriptions, quality scoring), extracted keyframe images and metadata are sent directly from your device to the Anthropic (Claude) API using your own API key. GPS coordinates from file metadata are sent to OpenStreetMap Nominatim for location lookup. All results are stored locally. No data passes through or is stored on our servers.

3. Account and eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use Scruto. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.

4. Subscription and payment

Scruto is offered as an annual subscription at $99/year. Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy, who acts as our Merchant of Record. By purchasing a subscription, you also agree to Lemon Squeezy's Terms of Service.

Your subscription renews automatically each year unless cancelled before the renewal date. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your Lemon Squeezy customer portal.

5. Your content

You retain full ownership of your files, tags, descriptions, and any other data generated by the application. We do not have access to your media files, API key, or processing results.

Your use of the Anthropic API is subject to Anthropic's terms. You are responsible for providing your own Anthropic API key and for any associated API usage costs. The Scruto subscription covers the application itself; Anthropic API costs are separate and billed directly by Anthropic.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

7. Intellectual property

Scruto and all related branding, code, and documentation are the intellectual property of Scruto. Your subscription grants you a personal, non-transferable license to use the application.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

Scruto is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will meet your specific requirements. While Scruto's file renaming feature is designed to be reversible, you are responsible for maintaining backups of your files.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Scruto shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data or profits, arising from your use of the Service.

10. Changes to terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. We will notify active subscribers of material changes via email.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to Scruto if you violate these Terms. You may cancel your subscription at any time. Upon cancellation, your access continues until the end of the current billing period.
